Device.thread_start()

Starts the device thread, it calls the self.start function with the arguments

start(self, device_info, config, dataqueue, datainqueue, statusqueue)

config is a deepcopy of self.config: config = copy.deepcopy(self.config). The deepcopy converts the configuration dictionary into an ordinary dictionary “forgetting” additional information and making the configuration hashable as it is needed for a multiprocess.
